Halloween is the perfect time of the year to watch Spanish horror movies. Every year, around this time, I have an incredible craving for this kind of genre. Watching something scary is, by far, my favourite way to spend this celebration.
If, like me, you want to celebrate Halloween in some way, but are too old to go out in the cold for the traditional “trick or treat”, (or too lazy to dress up and go to a costume party), you can always stay comfortably at home and enjoy an exciting horror movie night.
Or even better! You can practice your Spanish by watching not just a horror movie, but a Spanish one. Enjoying some Spanish cinema is a really good way to dig into Spanish culture, to improve your accent, to widen your vocabulary, and the perfect complement to your online Spanish lessons. There are many good Spanish horror movies, but here’s a top 10 that you might want to check out!
1. Mientras duermes, 2011 (‘Sleep tight’)
2. Dictado, 2012 (‘Childish games’)
3. Eskalofrío, 2008 (‘Shiver’)
4. Los abandonados, 2011 (‘The Abandoned’)
5. Mientras estás fuera, 2011 (‘While she was out’)
6. No temas a la oscuridad, 2011 (‘Don’t be afraid of the dark’)
7. Los ojos de Julia, 2010 (‘Julia’s eyes’)
8. Detrás de las paredes, 2011 (‘Dream House’)
9. Rec, 2007 (‘Rec’)
10. El orfanato, 2007 (‘The Orphanage’)
I hope you enjoy the selection… 🙂
Have a happy and scary Halloween!!
