The verb to like in Spanish, the verb “gustar”, is one of the most misunderstood verbs in the Spanish language. The structure is different compared to the majority of verbs.

In this video we will learn how to say “I like something”. It works a little bit different in Spanish than it does in English. In English, I’m doing the liking. In Spanish, is the thing that pleases me. Basically, there are two forms of the verb ‘gustar’ that are used: Gusta/Gustan. If there’s just one thing that pleases me, we say ‘me gusta‘. If there’s two or more things, we say ‘me gustan‘, with an -n at the end. Then we add the thing/things that please us. For example: I like football = Me gusta el fútbol (singular)// I like animals = Me gustan los animales (plural).

To further understand the verb “gustar” in Spanish, watch the video below. You’ll find a more detailed explanation of how this verb works. Also, there are exercises at the end of the video, that you can send to info@elinqua.com. We will email you back with any corrections you may need.

I hope you find the video useful!
