What has been the most influential decade in your country in the last 100 years? The answer to this question might be quite personal, but if you ask some Spaniards, many of them will agree that ,definitely, it has been the 80’s.
After 4 decades of dictatorship in Spain, the 80’s were very creative and culturally intense years. The social and political changes were fast and deep, and had a huge impact in the country’s cultural and intellectual life.
Music groups, movies, Spanish TV show, etc., were very avant-garde, and even today -30 years later- , continue to influence the artistic creation of new generations.
Today I want to propose you a different way to expand your knowledge about the so-called “the Spain of the 80’s“: to explore the cultural and social life of those years through TV programs that were broadcasted at that time.
The Spanish TV show ‘Ochentame’, by RTVE, gathers up some of the most important moments of Spanish television in the 80’s: debates about the growing problem of drug addiction in Spain, music programs, interviews with writers and intellectuals, the fashion trends of that moment, etc.
Dare to travel through time with ‘Ochentame’! Welcome to the 80’s!
