7 Useful Phrases to Survive in Spanish Conversations

 

Are you getting stressed trying to speak Spanish? If you are a total beginner and you have trouble making your first steps in the Spanish language, don’t worry. Here are some phrases to survive in Spanish conversations. They will help you to say a few words in Spanish.


If you want, you can download our phrases to survive in Spanish, so you can revise it whenever you like. We recommend you print it and stick it somewhere near your study place. Or you can just make it your computer's wallpaper... After a few times of looking at it, these expressions will come easily to your mind, and you won’t get lost again. And, most importantly, you'll become more confident when talking in Spanish. If you are taking Spanish lessons online, or in person, you can use these Spanish survival phrases during your classes. Your teacher will be impressed! ;)



Emergency-Kit



Here's the translation into English of these 7 useful phrases to survive in Spanish conversations:


- ¿Puedes repetir? = Can you repeat, please? 

- No entiendo = I don't understand.

- Una pregunta... = Just a quick question...

- ¡Gracias! = Thank you!

- ¿Qué significa...? = What's the meaning of...?

- ¿Cómo se dice en español ...? = How do you say ... in Spanish?

- Más despacio = Can you speak more slowly, please?



Note that in Spanish, and especially in Spain, we don't use "por favor" that much. It is socially accepted to be pretty straightforward and it's not considered rude or impolite. Rather than using a lot of courtesy words, using a polite tone when speaking Spanish is crucial if you're trying to be nice.
