¿Qué tiempo hace hoy?

This is the question we use when talking about the weather in Spanish.  To answer to this question is really simple if you don’t have to be very specific. Here’s a table with the most used expressions to describe the weather.

Of course, there are a few more useful expressions that you should know:

  • Humedad = humidity
  • Húmedo/a = humid
  • Rayo = Ray
  • Relámpago = Lightening
  • Trueno = thunder
  • Es de día = it’s day time
  • Es de noche = it’s night time
  • Seco/a = dry
  • Hace fresco = it’s chilly
  • Templado = mild
  • Granizar = to hail
  • Amanacer = dawn
  • Atardecer = dusk

Now, why don’t you try to do this activity?

If you are interested in practising a little bit more, we suggest that you take a look to the weather at eltiempo.es, the main weather forecast site in Spain, and tell us what’s the weather like today in your town or country, or in any countryof the world you’d like. You can write it down and send your answers to marianogueira@elinqua.com . You will receive the corrections with some comments as soon as possible.
